Ex-Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri wants Premier League return
Claudio Ranieri is not looking to retire following his sacking from Leicester and hopes to return to management in the Premier League, according to Sky sources.
The Italian was dismissed as Leicester boss last Thursday, nine months after leading the Foxes to the title.
Sky sources understand Ranieri has already received jobs offers from clubs in Serie A and the Chinese Super League, but is keen to remain in England.
The 65-year-old, who was named coach of the year at the FIFA Football Awards in January, returned to Leicester’s training ground on Saturday to say his final goodbyes to his former players and staff.
Sky sources understand some of Leicester’s senior players told the club’s owners that they were “unhappy” with Ranieri ahead of his dismissal.
Ranieri has informed those closest to him that he felt he still had the respect of the vast majority of the Leicester squad and only had potential issues with ‘a couple’ of players, Sky Sports News HQ understands.
Leicester will play for the first time since Ranieri’s departure when they take on Liverpool on Monday Night Football at the King Power.
They sit in 18th place, one point from safety, having lost their last five in the Premier League.
