Lampard addresses Chelsea crowd with emotional speech

Frank Lampard made an emotional return to Stamford Bridge for Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Swansea.

The Blues went 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League after goals from Cesc Fabregas, Pedro and Diego Costa.

Antonio Conte’s men are now edging in on the title but at half-time, Chelsea honoured one of their greatest ever.

All-time top goalscorer Lampard was presented onto the pitch and made an emotional speech to the Stamford Bridge faithful.

“I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye properly last time, and I always regretted that,” he said.

“I want to thank all of you.

“All my special memories of this place – and I’m thinking of them right now – I couldn’t have done it without you.

“We couldn’t have done that without you.”

Lampard made over 600 appearances for Chelsea and won 11 trophies before departing in 2014.

He joined New York City after a brief spell with Manchester City, where he scored against the Blues.

The midfielder announced his retirement from football earlier this month.
