Luis Enrique: It’s the squad that wins you titles
Barcelona have well and truly entered the business end of the season with Luis Enrique lauding the impact of his fringe players in Sunday’s 4-1 win over Granada.
Hit by four key absentees, the coach’s night got worse before it got better when Rafinha pulled up injured during the first-half, although replacement Paco Alcacer stepped up to bag the winner after Jeremie Boga’s leveller.
“It’s the squad that wins you titles,” said Luis Enrique to reporters. “It’s up to us to balance the injuries and suspensions against our fringe players.
“I’m very proud of Alcacer, I’ve been praising his attitude all season because he’s always there for the team.
“He’s been superb, he’s been involved in two goals tonight – scoring one – and he’s been a constant threat.”
Luis Enrique couldn’t hide his disappointment at losing Rafinha to what looked like a muscle injury but praised the work ethic of the Blaugrana, who dispatched their hosts with a flurry of late goals.
“It’s disgusting news about Rafinha, he’s a huge loss for us,” he admitted
“These are difficult games, I have seen the team play very well, very professionally.
“The game was complicated with the equaliser coming in an isolated moment but then we were able to find a way to win quickly and have earned a comfortable result that I’d say was fair.”
Returning to just two points off league leaders Real Madrid, Barcelona face Sevilla on Wednesday ahead of Los Blancos’ game at Leganes.
