Manchester United secured the ‘perfect result’ against Rostov, claims Owen
Michael Owen believes Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will be more than satisfied with his side’s 1-1 draw with Rostov in the Europa League.
United overcame horrendous playing conditions in Russia to secure a well-earned draw from the first-leg of their last-16 tie on Thursday night.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s first-half away goal could prove to be crucial when the two sides meet again at Old Trafford next week and Owen claims United will be happy to have come through the match unscathed.
‘That’s the last thing on your wish list, getting any injuries,’ Owen told BT Sport.
‘They’ve got a huge squad though, they’ve got a massive squad that’s full of quality. I think it really is job done.
‘It was a good result in Saint-Etienne but it was marred by a couple of injuries and a sending off.
‘However, tonight I think it was almost perfect. Unless you want to be very greedy, it was the perfect result.’
Manchester United return to domestic action on Monday with an FA Cup quarter-final tie against Mourinho’s former club Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Red Devils then face Rostov in the Europa League next Thursday as they look to secure their place in the last eight of the competition.
