Max Philipp says Bundesliga has overtaken Premier League amid Spurs links
Freiburg star Max Philipp has admitted that he is flattered by alleged interest from Tottenham but feels that the Bundesliga has overtaken the Premier League.
The midfielder has had a strong season in the Bundesliga this term and, as such, has been linked with a move to England.
North London rivals, Tottenham and Arsenal, are reportedly interested in signing the 23-year-old star who has taken kindly to the rumours.
Philipp has insisted that he is glad to hear of the interest from Spurs but also feels that the Bundesliga has overtaken the Premier League.
“Naturally every player – including me – has the dream to play in the Champions League one day,” he told Bild.
“England was always my goal. I loved the football and the fans, but I think now the Bundesliga has overtaken the Premier League technically, and I can also imagine staying in Freiburg forever.”
Philipp has made 18 appearances in the German top flight this season and scored seven goals, which would be enough to place him third in Tottenham’s rankings behind Harry Kane, who has scored 19, and Dele Alli, with 13.
On top of his goals, he’s also created 17 chances though that ranks as the fourth-most at Freiburg.
How does he compare to Tottenham’s current attacking midfielders?
One thing Spurs have plenty of quality of in their current squad is attacking midfielders, especially in England’s very own Dele Alli.
In just his second season in the top flight, Alli has scored 13 goals – three more than he managed last term, while Christian Eriksen is one of the most creative players in the division.
