Neuer hits Bundesliga record with 100 clean sheets
The Germany international reached the milestone in record time, easily besting the mark previously set by Oliver Reck
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer set a Bundesliga record Saturday, becoming the fastest player to reach 100 clean sheets.
The 30-year-old was in goal for Bayern’s 8-0 thrashing of Hamburg at the Allianz Arena, a result which saw him hit a century of clean sheets in 183 matches.
That mark easily bested the previous record of 232 matches, held by Werder Bremen’s Oliver Reck.
It was a milestone-filled afternoon for Bayern, who rolled to victory in Carlo Ancelotti’s 1,000th match as a manager.
Robert Lewandowski notched a hat trick for the hosts, who also got a brace from Kingsley Coman and goals from Arturo Vidal, David Alaba and Arjen Robben.
Bayern sit at the top the Bundesliga table, five points clear of second-placed RB Leipzig.
