Neymar targets 100th Barcelona goal against Deportivo La Coruna

Despite having a fine season, Neymar’s often been criticised for not scoring a ton of goals. With two goals against PSG, though, he took his tally this season to 14 and to 99 since joining Barcelona in 2013. With a goal at the Riazor against Depor, then, he would move on to 100.

The Brazilian’s 99 goals have arrived in 175 games. An average of 0.56 goals per match. He’s scored in every competition except the Club World Cup (one game, zero goals). He’s not scored in the European Super Cup, either, but he did not play in Georgia in the 5-4 win over Sevilla due to an illness.

In La Liga he has scored 63 goals in 115 games, in the Champions League ha has 21 in 38 and in the Copa del Rey he has 14 in 19. Elswhere, he’s scored twice in the Spanish Super Cup, including his first ever goal for the Catalan club against Atletico Madrid almost four years ago.

His 25th goal arrived on Oct. 21, 2014, in a game against Ajax; his 50th came on May. 8, 2015, against Real Sociedad; and his 75th arrived on Jan. 27, 2016, against Athletic Club.

As for most goals in a game, he scored four once against Rayo Vallecano (Oct, 2015) and has two hat-tricks: against Celtic and Granada. He has scored a brace on 30 occasions.

Neymar can reach a century of Barcelona goals at 25 years, one month and seven days. Leo Messi, meanwhile, reached the landmark at 22 years, six months and 21 days.

The Argentine, of course, started playing for the club at a younger age, though. He has now scored over 500 goals for the club, scoring his 100th in 2010 in a win against Sevilla. In terms of games, Neymar can do it in 176 matchs, while la ‘Pulga’ did so in 188.

On Wednesday, at Camp Nou, Neymar took a step forward and shows that he can lead the team alongside the Argentine crack. Big future.
