Real Madrid target Mbappe intends to continue at Monaco
Kylian Mbappe has told Monaco he intends to stay at the club for at least another year in order to evaluate his career options, putting to bed suggestions he could be on his way to Real Madrid in the summer.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a breakout season in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League, scoring twice in the last-16 double-header to help oust Manchester City from the competition.
Since then, the attacking starlet has received interest from Europe’s elite with Real Madrid, among others, said to be vying for the player who has reportedly become their top summer target.
But with his contract set to end in the summer of 2019, the striker’s father – and agent – has told the club that Mbappe intends to remain at the club until at least the end of next season and use the World Cup as a method of evaluating his future.
The France youth international is in no rush to leave and believes the Principality outfit is the ideal place to continue developing where he can continue to learn under the tutelage of Radamel Falcao.
Whilst Monaco have yet to set a definitive price for Mbappe, following the hefty transfers of James Rodriguez and Anthony Martial in recent years, the club will not settle for anything below the 80 million euros they received from the aforementioned sales.
This comes days after reports suggested the club had knocked back a 110m euro bid from an English club.
