Rumble at the Emirates Arsenal fans appear to fight among themselves
Amid tense atmosphere as some supporters escalate anti-Arsene Wenger protests, clip posted on Twitter seems to show punch-up in stands
A VIDEO posted on Twitter during Arsenal’s home match with Manchester City on Sunday afternoon appeared to show Gunners supporters fighting amongst themselves.
Tensions have been high around the North London club as some sections of the fans have intensified their protests against manager Arsene Wenger.
The video was accompanied by the words “More fans fighting at the game” with sleeping emoticons, indicating how such scenes have become depressingly common for Arsenal fans so far.
About 1,000 Arsenal fans joined an anti-Wenger march before game, the biggest such protests against the Frenchman.
But tensions boiled over between Wenger In and Wenger Out supporters during the match.
Pictures show Arsenal fans arguing amongst each other at the Emirates.
In one photo, a group of people appear to be confronting a section of fans showing a banner in support of Wenger.
The ugly scenes marred what was a much-needed fightback by the Frenchman’s team.
City went ahead twice through Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero, but were pegged back Theo Walcott and Shkodran Mustafi.
Earlier in the day, Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis admitted the team’s slump in the last six weeks had been a “catalyst for change” at the club.
