West Brom ready to make Troy Deeney their record signing
West Brom are willing to shatter their transfer record to land Watford striker Troy Deeney.
Boss Tony Pulis will make Hornets skipper Deeney his No1 close-season target, and the club’s top brass are ready to back him with a £20million bid.
Watford turned down an offer in excess of £15m from Premier League champions Leicester for Deeney last June and then handed him a new five-year contract worth £50,000 a week.
But West Brom are prepared to give the 28-year-old an even better deal in their bid to bring him back to his native Midlands.
The Birmingham-born striker began his career at Walsall after failing to land a contract at Aston Villa.
Pulis set a club transfer record of £13m when West Brom signed Spurs midfielder Nacer Chadli last summer.
